Inauguration Function of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

The country had witnessed a historic event on 28.08.2014 when Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) from Delhi. State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) of West Bengal

organized State level Inauguration Function of PMJDY in Kolkata on 28.08.2014 which was graced by the kind

presence of Dr. Najma Heptulla, Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs. The overwhelming response of the

masses and the tireless efforts of the Bankers have created a milestone by opening more than 2 crore accounts

across the country on a single of inauguration. In West Bengal, all Banks have opened 16.74 lac accounts

as against a target of 10 lac on the above day. On 28th August, large numbers of PMJDY camps were held in
