Lead Bank Scheme came into existence from the later part of 1969. All Districts were allotted to a particular bank under LBS - Initially it looked mainly after Branch expansion.

In the year 1977, the first meeting of SLBC (West Bengal) took place. Three such meetings took place during the year.

Special efforts were made during 1978 for launching of District Credit Plans - Launched in 7-8 Districts - Methodology for launching credit plan was being developed - Rehabilitation programme for flood victims was taken up by SLBC.

2014-15
 
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
» The country had witnessed a historic event on 28.08.2014 when Hon’ble Prime Minister inaugurated Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) from Delhi.
» State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) of West Bengal organized State level Inauguration Function of PMJDY in Kolkata on 28.08.2014 which was graced by the kind presence of Dr. Najma Heptulla, Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs.
» West Bengal State secured FIRST rank in maximum percentage achievements of identified household coverage under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana.
» Lead District Manager, Bankura (West Bengal) secured FIRST rank in maximum coverage of sub service areas under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana.
» North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal have been awarded as Best District for implementation of PMJDY by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India.
» In West Bengal, all the Banks have opened more than 2.97 crore accounts till date.
Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY)
» Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana was launched to cover Non- Farm Enterprises in manufacturing; trading and services whose credit needs are below Rs. 10.00 lac.
» West Bengal State remains one of the best performers in MUDRA scheme.
» Achievement under ACP – 98% and CD ratio -68% as on 31st March 2015.
2015-16
 
Social Security Schemes (SSS)
» Three Social Security Schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Jivan Jyoti Bima Yojona (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojona (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojona (APY) were launched for the nation by Hon’ble Prime Minister from Kolkata in a befitting function, held on 09th May, 2015 on the birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindra Nath Tagore. The function was also attended by Hon’ble Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State.
» West Bengal State took part enthusiastically to make the scheme successful.
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
» Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojona was launched in Kharif 2016 replacing earlier National Crop Insurance System (NAIS/MNAIS) with an aims at supporting sustainable production in agriculture sector by providing financial support to farmers suffering crop loss/damage arising out of unforeseen events & stabilizing the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming.
» SLBC- West Bengal in collaboration with Agriculture Department, Govt. of West Bengal and concerned Insurance Companies implemented the scheme in the State covering more or less all the farmers’ in this State.
» Since inception of this scheme, more than Rs. 400.00 crore of insurance claim have been released to the affected farmers.
Stand Up India (SUPI)
» Standup India was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 5th April 2016 to support entrepreneurship among Women and SC & ST communities.
» Since inception of the scheme, Rs. 661.00 crore loan extended by all the Banks functioning in the State of West Bengal covering 3652 nos of beneficiaries.
» Achievement under ACP – 103% and CD ratio - 61% as on 31st March 2016.
2016-17
 
» Achievement under ACP – 101% and CD ratio - 64% as on 31st March 2017.

2017-18
 
» Achievement under Annual Credit Plan: 90% of ACP achieved with deployment of Rs. 106599 crore against the target of Rs.119539 crore. Achieved 116% in MSME with achievement of Rs. 44059 crore against the target of Rs. 38000 crore.
2018-19
 
» Achievement under Annual Credit Plan: 93% of ACP achieved with deployment of Rs. 136205 crore against the target of Rs. 1464619 crore. Achieved 112% in MSME with achievement of Rs. 56548 crore against the target of Rs. 50000 crore.
» Gross NPA has been reduced from 15.44% (Rs. 64105 crore) to 12.63% (Rs. 54012 Crore)
» PFRDA awarded best category prize for new APY enrolment in 2018-19 (5.68 lakhs)
» Also achieved 126% (1040484 nos) in PMJDY, 110% (910761 nos) in PMSBY and 102% (447278 nos) in PMJJBY enrolment for the Aspiration Districts under the Extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
